NVTC Foundation Opens James Lee Clubhouse in Falls Church

Opening of Fourth Clubhouse Continues Commitment to Providing Computer Access to Northern Virginia Children

The Northern Virginia Technology Council Foundation (NVTC Foundation) celebrated the opening of its fourth Computer Clubhouse during a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the James Lee Community Center today.

"The James Lee Computer Clubhouse is a shining example of a technology-related community initiative that can make a difference in the lives of children and adults of all ages and backgrounds," said Dan Bannister, chairman of the NVTC Foundation and chairman emeritus of DynCorp. "We are excited about the opening of this Clubhouse and look forward to opening two more this winter."

Local officials kicking off the celebration were: The Honorable Gerry Connolly, Chairman, Fairfax County Board of Supervisors; Linda Smyth, Supervisor, Providence District; and, Patricia Franckewitz, Director, Fairfax County Department of Community and Recreation Services.

"We live in a knowledge-based economy and preparing a skilled workforce for the future is critical. It is important that every child have equal access to the technology that unlocks that future," said Chairman Connolly. "The NVTC Foundation has shown a willingness to put significant resources into these Clubhouses, and we applaud that effort."

The Clubhouses currently serve more than 800 youth, adults, and senior citizens living off the Route One corridor and Bailey's Crossroads areas. All of the Clubhouses are centrally located in Fairfax County owned- and operated-buildings and are intended for broad community use.

The Clubhouses are presented in partnership with Fairfax County Department of Community and Recreation Services; Fairfax County Public Library Foundation; Fairfax County Public Libraries; Fairfax County Public Schools; and, the Computer Clubhouse Network.
