The Equal Footing Foundation was founded to make a real and lasting difference in the lives of children and adults in Northern Virginia. Together with our corporate sponsors, local government and business partners, the foundation helps fund, launch and sustain Computer Clubhouses that currently serve over 1,500 youth in six locations. Through these clubhouses and other technology-related programs, we are able to help facilitate corporate efforts to give back to the community.

"The Equal Footing Foundation serves as a vehicle through which local corporations can contribute to the education and development of area youth by supporting programs that teach and empower the next generation of community leaders."

Speaker Series

Paths to Success…

Launched in 2006, the Speaker Series offers a way for corporations and individuals to directly connect the path of education to real world applications. Through informative, engaging presentations, youth hear first hand how education opens doors and creates opportunities.

From "Clubhouse to College to Career," speakers help spark enthusiasm and generate momentum through example. Past speakers have included:

  • Outreach Director for the Office of Congressman Jim Monroe, Bryan Spoon

  • Engineer Ming Tang, Booz Allen, who discussed his work in the development of Hypersonic and Supersonic Air Vehicles. He connected the use of math and science skills attained through school curriculums with job opportunities.

  • Entrepreneur and local business leader Carlos A. Castro, President of Todos Supermarkets, spoke on immigrating to the United States from El Salvador. He emphasized the hard work and perseverance it took to realize his dreams of owning two supermarkets, a gift shop, and several other stores. Castro focused on the importance of learning, language skills, and work ethic to achieve success.
